Sitting bolt upright!

Hi Ladies,

I realized (in the middle of the night when I sat upright bolt awake) that I did not finish posting the photos from the library auction scrapbook layouts.  I will try and get those finished in the next few days!

We have been busy here at the Farm.  I had a women’s retreat, then the next day our family boarded a plane to FL to visit with Grandma, Uncle, Mickey Mouse, Harry Potter and several other friends.  We returned two days ago and luckily had a snow day yesterday to help us dive back into life.  I had hoped to do this post yesterday, but as in all things, life happened and I got to spend another 5.5 hours in a car.  Even though we didn’t change time zones, I am feeling jet lagged.

So, with out further ado, more library auction pages.

I really like how clean these pages look.  If you haven’t noticed, I’ve gone back to matting all my photo spaces.  Sometimes even double and triple mats.  Love the layered look, and have decided I have enough paper and cardstock to use it this way.  <grin>

JHOLeft JHORightDifferent journaling spot this time as I didn’t include the “notebook” page, but again, crisp layout really speaks to me.  This was a workshop on the go feature layout.  (I think from ProPlayer paper.) SPLeft SPRight

“So Proud” was done with scraps.  I used the frame from the Shining Moments Layout and then just layered on more scraps that I had lying on the table.  It definitely fits into the whimsical category!

Thanks for looking.  I hope to be better about posting new artwork.  Now that January is almost over, I think I might have some time to catch up on things.  We have club day tomorrow, and I haven’t even figured out our project!  yikes.  (It’s all good though, I have lots of ideas.  Just need the time to play with my papers!)

Happy Crafting.

ProPlayer – Scrapbook Layout in progress

Well,  there is a workshop on Thursday and I’m not ready yet.  It seems to happen to me more in the fall than in February when the Spring/Summer idea book is released.  I think that might have to do with August being tractor driving time and September is trying to get into a new routine, harvest all the garden goodies and scrapbook!

I still have some more time tonight and all day tomorrow, so I’m sure I’ll have finish products for you to see by the end of the week.

Here’s the layout from the ProPlayer workshop brochure.  I followed it almost exactly.  I didn’t stamp the black arrow, but instead used a textured one from the embellishments.

In hindsight, I think I would have liked to put a twist tie or bakers twine  around the arrow, but at the time I didn’t think about it.

I don’t have any photos for this layout.  As I mentioned prior, I haven’t edited or printed any photos for over a year, and I couldn’t find any of our older prints that I wanted to use with this.

ppfeatupclose2Love the hand drawn line around this tag and some other embellishments.  It’s the little things that all seem to add up to the best layouts.  (That’s a shout out to the designers at CTMH for the scrapbooking workshops on the go!

The next layout has photos, but no embellishing yet (well,  at least no embellishments at the time of the photo. I’ve been working this evening and have a title, journaling, and about 1/2 of the embellishments done.)

These photos are from the day after our wedding when we were opening gifts at my parents house.  It felt strange being the only one opening gifts, and I think some of the guests were more excited to see what we got than we were.  It took a lot of convincing for us to even register.  We just wanted to get married and start a life together under one roof (yes, old fashion).

I’ll have updates on this last layout, and the third one that hasn’t even been selected let alone started later this week! (Workshop is Thursday, yikes!)

Happy Crafting!

Fun, Fast, Fall Project – Wine Glass Shade

I really enjoy the ambiance of candlelight.  For whatever the reason, I relax and slow down.

In the summer, especially up  here in the north where it stays light so much longer, candles just don’t work well.   We’ve had such a cool summer that it has felt like October weather.  I’m starting to think of hot soup simmering on the stove, candles lit around the living room and a good book, all while I’m wrapped in an afghan.

wineshade-schoolWhere is this leading you may ask?  Each year I look forward to pulling out my wine glass candle shades, and  I typically make one or two new shades each fall.  As I was on a tractor this afternoon I started planning my fall design and decided that I would share my pattern and instructions with my blog followers.

If you have the Art Philosophy cartridge, you will have an easy time putting these together.

I scored a whole box of wine glasses at a flea market for $3, so I’ve been creating many of these for hostess gifts, thank you, or just because.  Like I said quick and easy.

One tip if you stamp on your vellum and emboss it, it is better to go slow and take a little longer to “melt” the embossing powder than to burn the vellum and have to cut it all over again.  (Not that I have ever done that!)

Here are the written instructions as well as the printable cut out pattern if you don’t have a cricut. Happy Crafting!
