Close to My Heart

Revisiting old favorites

Do you have those paper packs that you just loved but can’t get anymore?   Me too.  I have LOTS of partial packs left over from scrapbook workshops and other projects.  I’ve decided to love it or leave it.  Meaning I am going to use up the partial packets or give them new homes.  This will free up some space for other papers that I can use!

In the quest to use old papers,  I have more card photos to share.     These were from an old paper pack called Miracle and I used Kathryn’s 6×6 patterns again.    (Found them here  http://kathrynscards.blogspot.com/2013/05/6×6-cutting-formula.html)

Scraps that were just lying around the studio

For the past several months paper scraps have been gathering from club night, quick cards,  and left overs from the teenager’s school projects.   In an effort to find my craft table again,  I started to glue the pieces on to card bases.  Not with much rhyme or reason,  but with the goal of clean crafting space.  Here are some (most) of the results.scraps04 scraps03 scraps02 scraps05 scraps01

As you can see I love embedded embossing.   Next set:scraps09 scraps08 scraps14 scraps17 scraps13 scraps23The next group was paper that was given to me at a crop weekend.   Paired it with some of the aluminum grain bin paint embellishments and black cardstock.   scraps20 scraps16 scraps22 scraps21 scraps15 scraps12 scraps24 scraps25 scraps18 scraps19Happy Crafting!

Found a New 6×6 pattern

So,  while I was on a long crafting weekend with friends,  they asked if I could find another 6×6 card cutting guide  and I did find one!   Very few meet my standards,  but this one does.  You can find the pattern here.

Recently someone gave me a couple sheets of one of my all time favorite paper packs.  Pemberly!  So I gathered all my scraps from this paper pack and came up with these.

Florence Insider guide

Yes,  I really am trying to get caught up and get all these great insider guides published so you can start using them and falling in love with them like I have!   Next up is Florence.   1605-ci-workshop-florence-cards

Florence_IG_quickpicAs you will see on my cards I once again picked my own paper from the Florence packet and did my own thing!   I also learned a lot about water coloring on these cards.   The first card I added color on the brush onto dry paper.  The second card I used the same about of color on the brush,  but I had brushed clear water over the card front first.   I can see applications for both,  but for these cards I like the second one best.  The stamp set is Balloon Wishes

Card one:  Florence_card1Note:  The balloon I cut using the Artfully Sent cartridge and interchanged the cut out from the balloon.

Calypso Papers – Older Insider Guide – Georgie

I knew these insider guides were a gold mine when CTMH first introduced them,  but was swamped with life and didn’t make the time to use them.  Now that we have been using them with club night,  it’s been amazing!  Hope you like them as much as I do.  I find they are better than OSW (one sheet wonder) cutting guides as they give you the cuts for ALL the papers.   You can often combine insider guides and get LOTS of cards out of one paper pack.  And with CTMH double sided designed paper,  the combinations are numerous.

The next guide I used with the calypso paper is the Georgie guide.  1509-ci-workshop-georgie-us_ca

I used one of the Picture My Life cards in place of the sentiment on both cards.  (These cards are part of the paper and can be cut into 3 x 4 and 4×6 pieces.  Love them!

I also got to use some old rick rack ribbon that was here.  I think it pairs nicely with the whimsical flamingos!
