Instructions to find Pop-up Cards

Erica Popup Baby

It was brought to my attention that I could post the instructions for these cards.  We used the Card Makers Magazine (Winter 2014) instructions and I’m sure I can’t post those here.  Copyright laws and all.  So, I found another set of instructions at Split Coast Stampers.

Erica Popup Baby2

This card was created by Erica and she took a baby shower invitation she received, and taking the pieces about carefully, used the paper and embellishments from the invitation to create this card.  I thought is was clever! Here is the card opened.

Can you tell I’m loving these pop up cards!

I sponsored a card sketch challenge this weekend, so I’ll post the sketch and my take on it soon!  (It’s still packed.)

Happy Crafting.

Love November’s Stamp of the Month (SOTM)

It’s all about the Little Things really strikes a chord with me.  Life is about the little things, or at least it feels that way to me.  The big consumers of time and money aren’t really that important when I stop and think about it.  I think the little moments of playing a game, that I really don’t like, with my son, or whipping up some tasty treats, that I can’t eat, with my daughter are the moments I want to cherish.  So, this whimsy stamp set has me waxing poetic.  (Please not that was poetic, not pathetic <grin>)

Just think, you can get this great stamp set for only $5 this month only with a $50 purchase.

These cards don’t use this stamp set, but I can easily see where they could be created from it.

If you do some creating, I would love to have you share it with me so other’s can get some great ideas too!

More Pop-up Cards

Yay!  I was able to get photos of the two pop-up cards that I did.

I’ve been trying to use up partial paper packs so this card uses Evensong, Traditional Holiday and scraps from a third pack that I can’t remember the name of it.  I will be sending this card to my Mom as a sample for her as I know she will enjoy making some beauty cards for her friends!

This next card is for my son’s kindergarten teacher.  Again, Using up old paper packs and stickease.  One tip I did want to point out is the use of musical washi tape on the cross bars of the pop up card.  I think it really adds to the card while camouflaging the mechanics in the card.

In my quest for using up (so I can buy more <wink>)  I found some dimensional stars and bling!

November campaign is just in time to help me!

As you know, I’ve been having some computer problems on and off for over a year now.  For the last few months, I’ve slowly been collecting all our digital images onto our external hard drive.  Today I finally finished putting all the images into the the proper date folders.   When I finished putting all the pictures in their folders, I went back to see when was the last time I had edited and ordered prints.   Yikes.  It was June of 2011.  That’s over THREE years ago.  No wonder I am out of fodder for my workshop layouts.

Have no fear, CTMH is offering a great deal on Studio J layouts, so I should be able to crank out some layouts and maybe even start working on photos from 2012!

What is the deal you may ask?  Here it is:

Lucky 5

November Constant Campaign

November marks the five-year anniversary of Studio J®, and that means it’s your lucky month, with five amazing ways to win through Studio J and Close To My Heart social media!

First, throughout the month of November, all layouts purchased in Studio J are $5! That is a savings of over 25% off of retail! Your second chance to win big must come by sheer luck: every fifth order placed in Studio J during November receives a FREE surprise Close To My Heart accessory in its shipping box! The accessory has a retail value of $5 or more.

If luck doesn’t smile on you in that way, you might stumble upon it by finding a little extra something in your Studio J box. Five “golden tickets” will be sent out during the month of November with randomly selected Studio J print orders! This “golden ticket” is redeemable for one of Close To My Heart’s new D-ring albums* loaded with 10 Top Load Memory Protectors™.

For a fourth way to win, simply create new, gorgeous layouts in Studio J, select your favorites, and then post pictures of them on Close To My Heart’s Facebook page using the hashtag #ctmhlucky5. After November 30, five lucky winners will be selected from the entries based on their artistry and creativity and each of these winners will receive their own D-ring album loaded with 10 Top Load Memory Protectors!

And there is one last way to win: take your new Studio J artwork and post a picture of it on Instagram using the hashtag #ctmhlucky5. Just as it is with Facebook, after November 30, five lucky winners will be selected from the entries to receive their own D-ring album loaded with 10 Top Load Memory Protectors!

Plus, there is a bonus Consultant-only way to win. After the campaign has ended, the top five Consultants who had the greatest number of customers who order during the campaign will also get a D-ring album loaded with 10 Top Load Memory Protectors! This sixth way to win is only open to Consultants, so make sure to encourage every one of your customers—new to Studio J or not—to start designing now.

And to make things even more exciting, starting November 1, five brand new kits from the Annual Inspirations idea book will be made available in Studio J, so you can create new artwork using the latest papers and embellishments from Close To My Heart. With so many ways to win, five may be your new lucky number! Log in to Studio J and start creating today.

School has started and I had a minute

So I created this!

craftingwithamanda.comMy upline for Close to My Heart put a color challenge up for her team with prizes involved, so I started creating right away. We need to create three projects.  I haven’t been crafting much in my studio, but my table has been gathering bits and baubles, tools and “stuff” for a while so I pushed everything aside and got to work.   Here is the photo for the challenge.

Sept Color Challenge inspiration

I didn’t have the right lighting for my card to show the purple, but in person it matches the colors on my screen better.  I hope to get the two other projects done and I’ll take some photos in natural light.

I used Smokey Plum, Indian Corn Blue, Crystal Blue inks  D1627 Your Own Kind of Wonderful stamp set and an upcoming stamp of the month It’s the Little Things.

I don’t know if you can see it well, but I swipe the stamp over the edge of the ink pad.  This removes some of the ink and gives a multi-tone effect with just one color, then I daub and swipe on other colors to add more life into the butterflies.
