About Me

Valentine Treats (for my son’s Class)

Well, I we are still playing catch-up here, but slowly step by step we are making progress. So, I purchased some individual rolo candies and some chocolate kisses. I stacked three rolos and topped it off with one kiss. I used glue dots to help hold the stack together. I then took a 1 7/8 x 3 1/2 piece of goldrush card stock and ran it through a crimper. I wrapped the candy stack (using adhesive runner on three sides of the goldrush card stock) and then added our message and punched heart with the name of the recipient on a ribbon. Whipped these together in about 1 hour and then made a few more for a spa day I had at the house yesterday. Everyone loved them. The tag says “I’ll get right to the ‘point.’ Happy Valentine’s Day!”
I don’t belive the pre-k kids understood, but I’m sure they loved the candy.
Valentine PencilsSorry for the blurry photo.  It was the best one that I got before I packaged them up and sent them to school!  (When I looked at it on the camera I thought it was fine, but perhaps my eyes were too blurry!)

Still working on it

Well, I’ve made some progress with the website, and also with the computer.   My husband reloaded everything this weekend while I took our daughter on a confirmation retreat.  It already crashed again this morning, so who knows how long this will last.  I did manage to update the new consultant kit, but so far that’s all.  I’ll keep plugging away at it!

The link on the front page is broken, but I hope to fix that right now.  Here’s a list of everything you can receive in the new kit.  Awesome deal.

Better get back to work!

ProPlayer – Scrapbook Layout in progress

Well,  there is a workshop on Thursday and I’m not ready yet.  It seems to happen to me more in the fall than in February when the Spring/Summer idea book is released.  I think that might have to do with August being tractor driving time and September is trying to get into a new routine, harvest all the garden goodies and scrapbook!

I still have some more time tonight and all day tomorrow, so I’m sure I’ll have finish products for you to see by the end of the week.

Here’s the layout from the ProPlayer workshop brochure.  I followed it almost exactly.  I didn’t stamp the black arrow, but instead used a textured one from the embellishments.

In hindsight, I think I would have liked to put a twist tie or bakers twine  around the arrow, but at the time I didn’t think about it.

I don’t have any photos for this layout.  As I mentioned prior, I haven’t edited or printed any photos for over a year, and I couldn’t find any of our older prints that I wanted to use with this.

ppfeatupclose2Love the hand drawn line around this tag and some other embellishments.  It’s the little things that all seem to add up to the best layouts.  (That’s a shout out to the designers at CTMH for the scrapbooking workshops on the go!

The next layout has photos, but no embellishing yet (well,  at least no embellishments at the time of the photo. I’ve been working this evening and have a title, journaling, and about 1/2 of the embellishments done.)

These photos are from the day after our wedding when we were opening gifts at my parents house.  It felt strange being the only one opening gifts, and I think some of the guests were more excited to see what we got than we were.  It took a lot of convincing for us to even register.  We just wanted to get married and start a life together under one roof (yes, old fashion).

I’ll have updates on this last layout, and the third one that hasn’t even been selected let alone started later this week! (Workshop is Thursday, yikes!)

Fun, Fast, Fall Project – Wine Glass Shade

I really enjoy the ambiance of candlelight.  For whatever the reason, I relax and slow down.

In the summer, especially up  here in the north where it stays light so much longer, candles just don’t work well.   We’ve had such a cool summer that it has felt like October weather.  I’m starting to think of hot soup simmering on the stove, candles lit around the living room and a good book, all while I’m wrapped in an afghan.

wineshade-schoolWhere is this leading you may ask?  Each year I look forward to pulling out my wine glass candle shades, and  I typically make one or two new shades each fall.  As I was on a tractor this afternoon I started planning my fall design and decided that I would share my pattern and instructions with my blog followers.

If you have the Art Philosophy cartridge, you will have an easy time putting these together.

I scored a whole box of wine glasses at a flea market for $3, so I’ve been creating many of these for hostess gifts, thank you, or just because.  Like I said quick and easy.

One tip if you stamp on your vellum and emboss it, it is better to go slow and take a little longer to “melt” the embossing powder than to burn the vellum and have to cut it all over again.  (Not that I have ever done that!)

Here are the written instructions as well as the printable cut out pattern if you don’t have a cricut. Happy Crafting!

Busy Weekend

And none of it involved crafting.  Unless you count the time I re-organized my Mom’s ink caddy for her.  Apparently when she tried loading it in the carrier to bring to Michigan the inks all fell out and she just shoved them back into slots.  She needed to be upgraded to the new colors from last year, so it was good timing.

The kids are now home after spending nine days with Grandma.  (Four of those days I was there too.)   With golf cart rides, water parks, indoor pool, zip line, ropes course, 700 acre lake with beaches,  at least 20 different playgrounds and eating diner out every night, they LOVE Grandma’s fun house.  Had to rough it with Mom’s homemade lasagna, garlic bread and tossed salad for supper tonight.

Got the trunk empty and much of the stuff put away,  but still need to catch up with laundry and truck bookwork.  I did however finish another book in a series I am reading, so I should be well rested to tackle some more tomorrow.

Wanted to put a post out and challenge myself to getting my other work done so I could do some of my crafting “work” this week.  Here is goes.  I want to have the fuel reports done and in the mail along with the billing and dispatch taken care of so I can use some more of the new paper and create some fun things to show you!  (I’m hoping by putting it in writing I’ll keep myself motivated.)

Happy crafting!
